Curtense Craft Brewery
It started in 1998 with a home brewing kit. In 2011 Matteo and Christian turned it into a farm brewery: a golden ale, an amber, an American IPA and the local Km0, right through to beer jellies to serve with cheese.
A grocery on the main street of the old village of Bagolino, its window full of what has always been made here. From Nello come Bagòss and Perseghina grappa, two flavours that tell you more about the place than any guidebook.
On the hills of Cunettone di Salò, inside the Alto Garda park, Simon Albanese grows organic olive groves a short walk from the lake. From there come a Garda DOP extra virgin oil and an olive paté that tastes of those same trees.
Luisa and Davide 's Le Due Casine farm in Capovalle (1,000 m) raises Nera di Parma pigs in semi-wild and produces artisanal cured meats without preservatives. Among woods and meadows, it combines passion and tradition, offering unique products such as speck, herb lonzino and mountain cheeses.
In 2015 Carlo and Tiziana left their jobs to move up into the high Valle Sabbia, to a place called POF. Today, with their son Alessandro, they make fresh and aged goat cheeses — and they are a Slow Food Presidium.
Luigi and Francesca make wine on a hill that has been called La Guarda since 1870, between Salò and Lonato. Groppello, sparkling wine and Riviera del Garda Classico, made with family tradition and a few new ideas in the cellar.
Silvio and Chiara Zanini's cellars are in San Colombano, below the Maniva, where three Brescian valleys meet. There they age the rarest cheeses of the area: Bagoss, Tombea, Silter and Nostrano Valtrompia DOP.
Martina and Alessandro left the city for the hills of Provaglio Valsabbia, and there they do everything by hand: mountain honey, wildflower honey, and the chance to adopt a hive. It sounds like a fairy tale — it is just their day.
