The tradition of organic olive oil from Lake Garda

The bbuono team travels to Lake Garda, more specifically to Cunettone di Salò, in the hills of the Alto Garda Bresciano Park to meet Simon Albanese and his organically run Poggioriotto farm.

Organic olive groves a stone’s throw from Garda

In the beautiful landscape that frames Lake Garda (whose boundary is marked by the Riotto stream), Simon welcomes us to his farm. In the shade of an olive tree with a view of magnificent Lake Garda, and a gentle breeze to keep us company, Simon begins to tell us his story.

Having completed his studies, earning a baccalaureate in accounting, he decided his path was toward agriculture, a passion he inherited from his Apulian grandfather who dedicated a lifetime to oil.

Simon produces Garda DOP- BIO extra virgin olive oil., in fact from the very beginning his philosophy is: “I am a great believer in respecting the environment and human health, and I have made this value the cornerstone of my company.”.

From the cultivation of the olive tree to the manual harvesting of the olives for a fantastic Garda DOP Olive Oil

Simon is very willing to tell us about his farm, the oil, its history and explains with great passion and naturalness the various stages of his work, the cultivation of the olive tree, pruning, manual harvesting finishing with the pressing of the olives and bottling.

All these steps are done in organic cycle, early harvesting and its milling within 24 hours preserve the typical characteristics of the oil that gives it an exceptional quality. Its product has low acidity, distinct fragrance of fresh olive, bitter and fruity taste, is green in color and deep yellow reflections.

A Lake Garda oil with dual certification: GARDA DOP and ORGANIC.

His is a product with double certification, synonymous with quality, great work and passion. Besides being a DOP it is BIO, a double guarantee for the consumer, ORGANIC extra virgin olive oil and GARDA DOP. Using the practice of organic farming, or organic farming, is not simple, there are rules that must be respected by the entire supply chain and are controlled by a certifying body.

Simon uses only 100% natural organic fertilizers for his soils surrounded by the fantastic scenery of Lake Garda

Only the use of natural substances is allowed; chemical and synthetic substances such as herbicides, pesticides, herbicides and chemical fertilizers are prohibited. Simon uses plant and mineral preparations and various agronomic techniques to preserve his plants, all to achieve an environment of natural balance for the benefit of a healthy and genuine product. In his oil you can find all the genuineness of organic and the true taste of Garda extra virgin olive oil.

Simon’s company produces not only an excellent oil but also sauces and preserves, of course all strictly organic.

On the grounds of his farm there is a small vegetable garden and a forest, inhabited by local flora and fauna 😀 from which he obtains vegetables to make sauces, such as bell pepper sauce, or eggplant cream, or excellent tomato basil sauce and an incredible olive pâté, all dipped in her organic extra virgin olive oil.

To meet Simon Albanese directly you have to look for him at the various organic markets, festivals or fairs. His products are high quality natural, and you will always find him courteous and helpful in explaining their characteristics to convey their value.
