The honey with pollen from Poscavrì represents the meeting of extraordinary wildflower honey and pollen produced by bees free to roam between the mountains of Valsabbia and the fields of Provaglio intended for grazing.
These fields are covered with flowers throughout the summer season, the precious pollen balls that the bees themselves collect directly from the flowers and (only in part, of course) are expertly plucked by their little legs before they use them to feed new broods.
The encounter between honey and pollen
Dried pollen is mixed with mixed-flower honey, melts and results in a darker, more opaque honey, but above all, enriched with protein, capable of giving a strong energy boost at breakfast, perhaps mixed with cereals, and especially for those who practice sports.
Honey with pollen is also an excellent natural provider of vitamins A, B group (including B12), C and has many other excellent nutritional properties.
Uses in cooking
Not just for a good start to the day: the creamy honey with pollen, which is thicker and more golden than traditional honey, also pairs nicely with ice cream.
Produced high in the mountains in an unspoiled valley
Pollimiel is produced by Poscavrì, a small farm dedicated to nature and founded a very few years ago by Martina and Alessandro. Their farm is surrounded by woods, full of green nooks and crannies where plants such as Thyme, peppermint climbing rosellas, elderberry, healing wild herbs and many, many other little plants grow.
What does the indication “Mountain Product” mean?
This quality indication (issued by the European Commission) aims to promote the recognizability and characteristics of the agri-food productions of mountain territories, with which the small companies of our territory tell their stories made of traditions, quality and goodness.
The “Mountain Product” label was created to show how these companies guarantee the consumer an authentically mountain product, while also ensuring that the highest quality standards are met as well as unparalleled taste.
