One of the best red wines not only from Brescia but also from Italy, Botticino DOC Gobbio organic wine is born right in Botticino next to Brescia’s famous marble quarries and then aged aged in large wooden barrels for about 30 months.
Gobbio originates from a silty, highly calcareous, ivory-white soil that has a natural vocation for producing wines with unique finesse and elegance. The vineyard, with completely organic cultivation, does not receive any chemical or herbicide treatment. This is because the ideal microclimate and the ever-present breeze on the hillside prevent moisture stagnation, allowing even a very low environmental impact pest control to be implemented.
From the invaluable collaboration ofagronomist and oenologist Carlo Ferrini, with patience, hard work and using a delicate and traditional winemaking technique to enhance the aromas and flavors of the grapes, Gobbio was born.
Made from Barbera (35 percent), Sangiovese (35 percent), Marzemino (20 percent) and Schiava Gentile (10 percent) grapes.
Gobbio Botticino DOC wine is made from ancient vines, mainly Barbera and Sangiovese, little Marzemino and little Schiava Gentile are dated 50 years old and treated with traditional but modern agronomic methods. The resulting wine is aged in large wooden barrels at the Noventa winery for 30 months.
In the winery they respect what nature has offered and the grapes are treated with kindness, the tannin is respected as it enhances the terroir.
Gobbio is a structured red wine, full-bodied but at the same time velvety and very elegant on the palate, the finish is full and very long.
The soil, where these vines grow, is able to give unique aromas as well as a distinct elegance and minerality to the wines. The processing is all manual given the conformation of the hills. The certification and choice of organic is a natural consequence of the strong viticultural vocation of the area: a conscious choice combined withlove and respect for the beauty that surrounds the land.
The Noventa winery is family-run, the whole family has always been dedicated to viticulture, with a long tradition and a great love for the land.

The specification DOC Botticino
The “Botticino” DOC was one of the first DOCs to be created in Italy (Official Gazette 03/06/1968) producing wine always with an eye to tradition. The harvested and destemmed grapes are placed to ferment in barrels for about 20 days, after which the wine underwent malolactic fermentation in medium-capacity wooden barrels, where it continued to evolve and age for the next 30 months.
The favorable exposure of the soils, which are sunny and protected by the Pre-Alps mountain range, and the clay-limestone nature of the soils, located on the slopes of the steep hills east of Brescia, create an ideal environment for the production of red wines endowed with typicality and body, which reach perfection with aging.”
