We have just traveled to the hinterland of Brescia, in an area between Garda and the city of Brescia, to Botticino.
A town well known for its marble quarries “Botticino classico” world-famous for its use in monument construction and interior cladding. Botticino marble is an excellence of the virtuous territory along with the DOC wine that the Noventa organic farm produces.

The Noventa farm is the first and only organic farm with prestigious awards such as the “three glasses Gambero Rosso” to produce wine from plots located above marble caves.
We at bbuono love to highlight organic viticulturists like those at Noventa Farm. If you would like to learn more about their beautiful farm and philosophy and why we have chosen them as a partner of bbuono.co.uk, all you have to do is read on.
The Noventa farm is located about 380 meters above sea level, next to the famous quarries. Marble is very important for the vines on which they rest their roots and absorb the minerals.
For half a century, the Noventas have been trying to make the world understand the value of their marble wine and that Botticino had the potential to produce a wine of excellence.
Difficulties for this farm have always been the order of the day; it is hard land to cultivate, both because of the slopes and because the grapes you get are few.
It is the only winery that tries to hold high the bulwark of the DOC; sisters Rossella and Alessandra brought a champion of enology, Carlo Ferrini, to the winery to fine-tune Botticino with a blend of four grape varieties, Barbera, Sangiovese, Marzemino and Schiava Gentile. With their perseverance, their Gobbio has been awarded three stars by the Gambero, also receiving the prestigious “Chiocciola” award, which is the certificate that rewards wineries that adopt good eco-friendly practices and respect the environment, both in the vineyard and in the cellar.
Theirs is a genuine wine, the use of sulfites is lower than that required for the organic method (which allows the use limit of 100 mg/lt) the amount of Botticino DOC Noventa wine is even lower.

We discovered a farming family working in an atypical territory with a very high vocation for viticulture.
A farm run and managed by Pierangelo, a promoter of this great knowledge who, with the wisdom of ancient farmers, uses the technologies that progress has made available to him to bring forth this BOTTICINO D.O.C.
There is a special microclimate at the Noventa winery, which combined with the constant, light evening breeze and the steep slopes of the hills make it possible to never have moisture stagnation in the vineyard and give the assurance of constantly dry clusters, so as to rule out the possibility of fungal diseases.

The choice of Organic was for the company a consequence of the territory’s viticultural vocation.
A conscious choice that distinguishes the work that is done in the winery from winemaking to aging, with patience, effort and the care of each individual bunch.

On the Noventa estate, Botticina’s vines enjoy the Mediterranean microclimate of the valley, protected from northeast to northwest by the Brescian Pre-Alps. These hills have received the prayers of the farmers, and they protect the vines from summer storms, a source of sustenance and the fruit of a year of painstaking and loving care of every single plant. The soil knows no chemical weeding, only mechanical tillage to eradicate weeds.
Manual and natural agronomic practices are used on every single plant, checkering, defoliation and thinning, during the harvest the best bunches are selected to obtain a healthy, genuine wine, an expression of the Botticino land from which it comes. This DOC recognizes the strong territorial component in the wine, the post-modern method used is a delicate and traditional winemaking technique, enhances the scents and aromas of the grapes to obtain elegant and fine wines.
Visiting the farm, we at bbuono found ourselves enchanted by the pleasant setting and welcome of Alessandra and Rossella.
We immersed ourselves in the centuries-old vines, the various shades of green, the colors of the hill profiles and the beautiful historic winery in an area that is found in its Botticino DOC wine, the Noventa winery manages to preserve and enhance all this.

We at bbuono have selected 3 types of organic Botticino DOC wine produced by Noventa:
– Gobbio: a DOC red wine, an excellence certified by the Three Glasses of the Gambero Rosso guide;
– Pià de la Tesa: a ruby red, a great author ‘s proof of the Noventa family;
– Colle degli Ulivi: a Botticino DOC that fully represents theexpression of the territory of the Brescian hills.
Why we chose Noventa
A wine born from a marble quarry, a DOC, organic and winner of three stars from Gambero Rosso is no small achievement. We went behind the scenes of this incredible winery and met people with a deep passion for their land, for preserving it naturally, and who, despite countless difficulties, produce an excellent wine. We thank Noventa for their collaboration and for continuing to uphold the banner of DOC with their valuable work.
