An old farmhouse dating back to the 1800s, where wine and oil have long been produced, located in the center of the Valtènesi, a wonderful territory with a strong vocation for the production of quality wines.
Always in search of the best food and wine excellences of our territory, we returned to Lake Garda, to Puegnago, in Valtènesi, just a few minutes from the fascinating Gulf of Salò, from the Conti Thun farm.
We met Vittorio from the Conti Thun farm, located a stone’s throw from Lake Garda in the heart of the Valtènesi region.
Fourteen hectares in total, twelve hectares of vines and two of olive trees, partly historic, partly redeveloped where 7 different varieties grow: Groppello Gentile (indigenous), Barbera, Sangiovese, Marzemino, Incrocio Manzoni white, Rhine and Italic Riesling. Classic wines are produced here from this soft, dry soil, which allows the vineyard to develop grapes particularly intense in aroma and taste.
With a great passion for the land, for nature and for life, Conti Thun products are born: a range faithful to traditions and the territory. Inside the courtyard there is also the ancient barrique cellar, which gives an evocative environment where one can breathe in the poetry of wine.
On the Conti Thun farm you live surrounded by the most luxuriant nature.
Here one gets to know wine and everything that revolves around its world at its best, being in contact with nature and the wonders of such an amazing territory as the Valtènesi. We at bbuono have returned to these hills conquered by the Mediterranean beauty they evoke.
The energy of the sun, the gentle winds, the scents ,patches of olive groves and vineyards, a naturalistic landscape all to be experienced, which never disappoints with its products of the highest quality.
Harvesting takes place from the first light of the morning, manually and with great care, the bunches of grapes are selected in the vineyard by picking only the best ones, carefully placed in small crates avoiding crushing and quickly taken to the winery: here they are processed while still fresh.
Why selection in the vineyard? To ensure better quality, as only the healthiest, ripest and most compliant clusters can become a Conti Thun wine.
Conti Thun produces the typical wines of the area, starting with sparkling wines produced with the Charmat method, through rosé wines, to reds.
A range true to tradition and terroir, but that’s not all: on the craggy soils of Terlan, in Alto Adige, where their origins and roots lie, they have always grown Sauvignon Blanc, with which they make a pure label, “Contessa Lene.” We at bbuono have selected 2 products:
- Michelangelo, IGT superior red wine with hints of ripe berries, cherry, spicy and sweet hints;
- Bolle di Gioia, A fine and aromatic sparkling wine with notes of lemon balm, sage and rosemary. Its color is a bright straw yellow, offering a fresh, lively palate with citrus hints reminiscent of Mediterranean herbs and sunshine.
