Conti Thun Brut Bianco sparkling wine: what to know before uncorking?
Where does the Conti Thun Brut Bianco sparkling wine come from and what is its profile?
It is the “Bolle di Gioia” from the Conti Thun winery, born in the heart of the Valtènesi region a stone’s throw from Lake Garda. It is a brut white sparkling wine made from Riesling Renano grapes, processed with the Charmat method at low temperature for fine, fragrant bubbles. The nose tells of Garda citrus and herbs; the sip is fresh, savory and balanced, with a clean finish that invites a second glass. Ideal for those seeking a modern brut but with territorial character.
How does it keep and how long does it last after opening?
Closed bottle: keep it in the dark, at a constant temperature (12-16°C) and away from heat sources; horizontal or slightly tilted rest is perfect.
After opening: use a bubble saver cap and store in the refrigerator; it stays at its best for 24-48 hours. Avoid the freezer and temperature changes: the bubbly is affected. If uncorking it for a toast, chill it in ice and water for 20-30 minutes before serving.
What to pair it with and at what temperature to serve it?
Serve it cold: 8-10°C to enhance aromas and bubbles.
Aperitifs and finger food
Lake and sea fish (raw, carpaccio, lightly fried)
Crisp vegetables, savory pies, fresh cheeses
Its freshness “cleanses” the palate, and the Garda flavor holds up well to simple but tasty dishes. For richer toasts, try it with vegetable tempura or citrus-marinated Garda trout.
How does it differ from Prosecco or Franciacorta?
Territory and method make the difference. This brut bianco comes from Valtènesi and uses Riesling Renano with autoclave refermentation(Charmat) for a fragrant and immediate profile. Prosecco is mostly from the Glera grape (Veneto/Friuli) and also Charmat, while Franciacorta (Brescian) is classic method, more complex and creamy because of the long rest on the lees. Three different souls, three ways of toasting.
