Inchino, Garda chinato wine: how best to enjoy it?
What is Inchino, a flavored wine of Garda?
This is our Lake Garda red chinato wine: made in Muscoline (Brescia) from an indigenous Valtènesi grape variety and an infusion of calissaja cinchona, gentian and spices. It is a meditation wine, perfect for dessert, with 17% vol and 0.50-liter bottle. It is signed by Azienda Agricola La Guarda, a family business that enhances the Garda territory. The nose is spicy, the sip bittersweet and balanced, with a balsamic trail. Unique of its kind on Lake Garda, it is the local interpretation of the “vino chinato” style.
What is the difference between chinato wine, vermouth and bitter?
Three different worlds but “cousins.”
Chinato wine: a wine (often red) flavored with cinchona calissaja and spices: bittersweet taste, perfect for meditation or dessert.
Vermouth: a wine flavored and fortified with artemisia, citrus and herbs: star ofaperitifs and cocktails (Negroni, Americano).
Amaro: a liqueur (not wine) with a neutral alcohol base and herbs/roots, usually more alcoholic; typical digestive.
L’Inchino can replace red vermouth in cocktails for a softer, more territorial version of Lake Garda.
At what temperature does it serve and with what pairings does it perform best?
Serve it at 12-14 °C in a dessert/meditation wine glass, without chilling it too much. Inchino loves dark chocolate and cocoa desserts (Sacher cake, zuppa inglese, mud cake). It surprises with red fruits (strawberries, cherries).
