  • Pollen collected directly from bees in the mountains of Valsabbia;
  • After a slight resistance in the mouth, it melts and gives an intense and sweet taste;
  • It goes well with cereals, ice cream, fruit salads, dissolved in milk but also as breading.

Pure high-mountain pollen carefully selected by bees

The “bread of the bees,” the heart of the delicious little mountain flowers, a nutritive and natural treasure.

Bee Pollen granules are produced and packaged by the Poscavrì farm to conveniently offer in small glass jars the so-called “bee bread,” natural nourishment that comes from the industrious activity of these insects among the pastures of the Valsabbia mountains, more precisely in Provaglio Valsabbia (BS).

Here the bees, going in search of the nectar needed to produce honey, collect some of the pollen with which they produce the sustenance of the future generation of bees, giving Martina and Alexander a way to dry and package some of it.

A 100% natural pollen that has not undergone pasteurization processes to preserve the vitamins, trace elements, enzymes and rutin, as well as many pigments that give pollen its specific color. With a rather sweet and intense taste, pollen is ideal as an accompaniment for cereals and yogurt, for ice cream but also as a breading for meat.

Martina and Alessandro left the city for the hills of Provaglio Valsabbia, and there they do everything by hand: mountain honey, wildflower honey, and the chance to adopt a hive. It sounds like a fairy tale — it is just their day.

When bees collect nectar to produce honey, their bodies also trap a small portion of pollen, which, once it reaches the hive, the bees themselves allocate as food for their eggs to provide protein for the future generation of bees.

Using a delicate system, these “balls” are harvested from their little legs and, once dried, are a valuable nutritional supply for humans as well.

Characteristics and fragrances

The taste and scent of the pollen are reminiscent of those of the different “millefiori” from which it comes, as are the colors of the grains, with a yellow that can tend to pink as well as orange.This is a versatile product that melts in the mouth with little initial resistance and releases a sweet, intense flavor.

Kitchen uses and pairings

It is used to bread meat or as a complement to cereals and yogurt, as well as for fruit salads and ice cream or simply dissolved in a cup of warm milk.
A product with versatile uses, it has many positive nutritional properties.

Produced high in the mountains in an unspoiled valley

The pollen is produced by Poscavrì, a small farm dedicated to nature and founded a very few years ago by Martina and Alessandro. Their farm is surrounded by woods, full of green nooks and crannies where plants such as Thyme, peppermint climbing rosellas, elderberry, healing wild herbs and many, many other little plants grow.

Useful information and interesting facts about bee pollen grains

What is bee pollen grain?

Natural granules obtained from flower pollen that bees collect and compact. The color and aroma vary according to the flowers (from soft yellow to brown), so each batch may have different shades.

How is it used and what is the recommended dose?

Start with 1 teaspoon/day (≈3-5 g) and gradually increase. Typical adult use: 5-10 g/day; some customs go up to 10-15 g/day. Ideal intake in the morning, alone or in yogurt/honey.

Practical ideas for using it every day
  • 1 teaspoon in yogurt or kefir with fruit and cereal
  • In acacia honey (creates a spreadable cream)
  • In fruit smoothies or vegetable milk
  • Sprinkled on salads and bowls
How does it taste and how does it match?

Floral-resinous flavor, with sweet and slightly bitter notes. Excellent:

  • In muesli or yogurt
  • On fruits, smoothies and kefir
  • Mixed with honey or dissolved in lukewarm (not boiling) drinks
Difference between fresh pollen and dry pollen?
  • Fresh: soft, aromatic granules, store in refrigerator/freezer; superior flavor yield.
  • Dry/dehydrated: more practical, stable at room temperature; can be rehydrated a few minutes in water, milk or honey.
