The IGA “White” Jolly Blue Beer is a label made in the classic style of Italian Grape Ale.
To produce this craft beer, Matteo and Christian of Birrificio Curtense, a craft brewery in the heart of Franciacorta, go early in the morning to collect the wort as soon as the grape pressing begins, this is to prevent it from fermenting and for the beer to risk absorbing the yeasts in the wort.
Matteo and Christian’s passion, their continuous search for quality and experimentation led them to produce a Franciacorta IGA beer using the must of an outstanding grape, thegrapes of Franciacorta, an area known for its excellent wines.
An award-winning beer
Curtense Brewery’s IGA beer was the winner of the Luppolo D’Oro award in the Best Italian Beers 2020 competition and was runner-up in the IGA White category Technical Competition.
Jolly Blue is an unfiltered, unpasteurized, bottle-fermented beer and has a natural yeast sediment.

Jolly Blue Italian Grape Ale: what’s special about it and how to enjoy it?
What is an Italian Grape Ale (IGA) made from grape must?
Jolly Blue is an IGA craft beer: we combine wort with fresh grape must from Franciacorta to enhance aroma and drinkability. It is produced by Birrificio Curtense, in the Brescia heart of Franciacorta: it is unfiltered, unpasteurized and bottle-fermented, with natural sediment at the bottom. Format 0.5 lt and 8.5% vol. It is the “white” version of the style, fragrant and award-winning. If you’re looking for a meeting of the beer and wine worlds, this Italian Grape Ale showcases the terroir with character and elegance.
What does Jolly Blue taste like and what do I pair it with?
Berry fruits (gooseberry, currant, elderberry) emerge on the nose with citrus notes of cedar and bergamot; in the mouth it is slender, dry, with moderate bitterness. Suggested pairings:
aperitif with fresh cheeses and goat’s milk cheese from Brescia
cured meats with a sweet profile
lake fish (Garda), trout tartare
citrus or herb risottos
This is a very versatile grape must beer: perfect for those who like creative pairings and want a bridge between local cuisine and grape aromas.

Sui prodotti nulla da eccepire. Purtroppo in questi giorni di grande caldo mi sono arrivati con il ghiaccio già caldo ed i formaggi più freschi alquanto mollicci. Peccato!
